Guerlain – I want it all!

It’s been a really busy week.  If you’ve read my homepage you will have read that my diet is not great at the best of times, but lately it’s been just dreadful.  I’ve been so busy with work I forget the time, my son misses his tired window and then ends up sleeping late. Dinner is usually beans on toast or tomato soup (thank you Heinz) at around 9/10pm and I’m not going to bed until 12:30/1am most nights (which is not a wise idea when you have little children!)  And it’s hardly like I’ve been eating salads, greens and fruits all through the day either.  BUT my skin has never looked better which is pretty crazy.  We actually had some decent weather here in the UK last week so the sun brought out my freckles and has given me a bit of a tan which has probably helped with the overall look.

One of the reasons I’ve been so busy is trying to get this little ol’ blog out there!  There are SO many other bloggers I spend a lot of time reading and interacting.  I signed up to a webinar hosted by Marina De Giovanni of which was really useful. And I’ve also been spending a lot of time on Twitter and Instagram which is really enlightening, but very time consuming.  It has been very busy in the world of music too and you should check out Neon Music; the website, Instgram, Twitter & Facebook to see some of the fantastic new artists we have been putting up this week.  Some very talented musicians out there and a range of genres which is great.

Anyway back to the subject of my post which is my love for Guerlain:

For the past week I have been sampling various Guerlain foundations and a moisturiser and I haven’t got a bad word to say about any of them.  In fact, now I want to buy all of them and there is lots more on my wishlist.  Let’s start with the foundations in the order I tried them:

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Foundation

The Lingerie De Peau Invisible Skin Fusion Foundation is exquisite and goes on like a dream.  As with all the foundations I dabbed a bit on my face with my fingers so I could feel the texture then used a blending sponge.  It is smooth and silky in texture and glides on to skin effortlessly.  It has light to medium coverage and as you can see in the photo above, it creates a natural, radiant and dewy finish (and who doesn’t want that?!) I used it with a touch of concealer and highlighter/blush stick so no powder or bronzer.  Oh and a BB cream underneath so very light, natural make up.  As with all of these foundations it lasts!  I wore it on a long, hot, busy day where I was running around after my son and got a bit sweaty, but my make up didn’t budge and I still looked quite glowy (if not knackered!) by the time I washed my face.  I do love the name and as it suggests on the packaging it says it fits like a second skin, rather like expensive lingerie and I totally get that.  It feels very luxurious to wear.

Products worn in the photo:
The Body Shop all in one BB Cream in 01 £12
Guerlain Lingerie De Peau nude effect foundation in 03 natural beige £38.50
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in 02 beige £7.99
Bourjois 1 seconde volume mascara in ultra black £9.99
Kiko Milano 3D Light & Glow Highlighter £4.90 (in sale)
Benefit KA-BROW eyebrow cream gel in 03 Medium £18.50
Revlon super lustrous lip gloss in 210 Pinkissimo £6.99

Guerlain Tenue De Perfection Foundation

This foundation  is ‘velvety-soft’ and features a ‘Timeproof Complex.’  My skin looked just as radiant as when I used the Lingerie De Peau, but is perhaps a little richer in texture and has slightly more coverage, but they both last well and skin looks dewy.  Again, the photo is taken using tinted moisturiser underneath and with a touch of concealer and highlighter so no powder or bronzer.  As with the ‘lingerie’ it lasted all day and wore really well.  I would probably wear this in more cooler months.

Products used in the photo:
Clinique Moisture Surge Tinter Moisturiser in 03 £23
Guerlain Tenue De Perfection in 03 Beige Natural £38.50
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in 02 beige £7.99
Benefit Watts Up Highlighter Stick £24.50
Guerlain Cils D’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara in Noir £25
Kiko Milano Eyebrow Fibers Coloured Mascara in 05 Deep Brunettes £7.20
Mac Limited Edition Archie Lip Gloss in Kiss & Don’t Tell

Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint

This is the 1st healthy glow foundation by Terracotta (if you’re familiar with the Guerlain range as their bronzers have been on bronzer bestseller lists for years.  You should check them out.)  This is another sublime foundation with light to medium coverage.  It is really creamy, but glides on easily (again dabbing with fingers then blending with a sponge.)  I forgot to put on a primer/BB/Tinted Moisturiser so on the left pic I am wearing purely the Terracotta foundation with absolutely nothing else – no powder, concealer etc. On the right I added some bronzer, blush/highlighter so my skin is a little darker.  Otherwise you can see what a natural warm glow it gives me as well as a really smooth, radiant finish.   If you’re concerned about wearing something like this if you have really pale skin, they cater for that too and have 5 shades ranging from Light to Intense.  Also I must point out all 3 foundations are SPF20.

This product has a similar effect to using the Body Shop Honey Bronze Drops of Sun £12 and Clinique Sun-Kissed Face Gelee Complexion Multitasker £23 (which are both quite similar, but very good.  You mix a bit of the gel into your moisturiser or foundation so very easy to use)  Also similar to the Benefit Dew the Hoola £22.50 which is a soft-matte liquid bronzer which you can wear over bare skin or over foundation. However, I do love the Guerlain Terracotta despite being more expensive at £36.50, but it is worth it and absolutely perfect for this time of year and to take on holiday.  Why don’t you make summer last and give it a go?

I also tried the Météorites Oxygen Care Moisturiser and Radiance Booster £46 underneath the Terracotta foundation and that was a light moisturiser with a pearlescent sheen and radiance boost.  This can be worn day and night and it feels hydrating, but also has some blurring of imperfections which is also useful!  I do love the look of the whole range and this is on my wish list along with the Météorites Base and Météorites Baby Glow light revealing sheer make up which I can’t wait to try.

As you can see in most of my photos on Instagram, I have been a long term user of the  Cils D’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara £25 which is fantastic for volume and length, never clumps, smudges and you can build up lots of layers.  I keep meaning to try the more recent mascaras Guerlain have brought out, but always end up going back to this one.
