A New Day (And Day Cream)

multi-active-packshot

Ok so it’s been a while, but I’m back! Especially as I renewed my WordPress account so must make it more worthwhile. And in the time I have been away I have had a birthday (therefore doing even more research on anti-ageing eye creams and skin care in the lead up to it) and been given a few beauty products.

For the past few months my skin was looking so dull so I decided to do a moisturiser switch. Now we finally have some sun my skin has been looking brighter, but I also think it’s to do with these creams I have been sampling of late. I have come to realise that if you are looking for a cream to actually do its job you do need to invest some money in it. My husband and I were using the Olay Total Effects 7in1 day and night creams £14.99 and they are perfectly nice, but I think during the colder months when skin is dry and pallid, they just weren’t nourishing enough. I went to a Clarins counter recently and have been trying the following samples which I think I am going to purchase full sized. The Multi-Active Day SPF 20 Cream £42. There are some other options for more dry skin or without the SPF and even a gel, but this one seems great to me. It has a lovely smell and feels quite rich without being too heavy on the skin. It sinks in easily after a serum and doesn’t feel oily.  It claims to “prevent and visibly correct the appearance of fine lines thanks to new Myrothamnus extract. The new extract minimises the impact of daily stress to help keep skin smooth and radiant. With technology powered by plant extracts and the latest breakthroughs in botanical research, these treatments visibly diminish the first signs of ageing, restore radiance, hydrate and maintain younger looking skin. Added SPF20 protects the skin from harmful UV rays and pollution.” I have to say I have noticed a difference in the past 2 weeks since I started using it. Used along with the Multi-Active Night Cream £44 and the Double Serum £56 (prior to applying the creams), my skin has looked fresher and feels firmer. I would love to purchase all three products, but I will start with the Day Cream for now.

As a side note, I used to use Clarins when I was in my 20s (the Multi-Active Day Cream and the Beauty Flash balm) but then moved on to Lancome in my 30s. Recently I tried the Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress cream again and just didn’t feel the same effect as before. I’m not sure if it’s these products that have changed or my skin! The Hydra Zen felt much more rich before, but not as much now whereas it’s the other way around with the Clarins.

What moisturiser do you use and what can you recommend? Have you had a similar experience to mine? As always, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Lancome skincare hasn’t worked for me in a long time *LOL* I’m in my 30s too. For day cream, Clarins hydraQuench skin melt was my favourite. They discontinued it and I’m trying out the hydra essential now. Not sure if I like it as much as the older version. The new hydra essential serum feels like an improvement. Clarins Lotus oil is still my all time favourite.

What do you think of the new multi active night cream? I somehow like the old one better.

Oh yes I remember the hydra quench! Well I prefer both Clarins day & nigjt multi-active now, I went off them in my late 20s and moved on to Lancome. They do feel and smell different so sure they have improved in that time but the lady said maybe it’s my skin that’s changed! Who knows….

Thanks for your comment and great to hear your thoughts xx
