Summer Skin

Whew – I can’t believe how long this heatwave is lasting! It feels like we are having a proper summer for once. Although I can’t help but feel absolutely exhausted come the evening where there is no respite and the house is boiling hot. I write this as the England/Croatia match is on, sitting by the window with a lovely cool breeze. I really hope the summer weather lasts when the kids break up from school as I remember it drastically changed last year as soon as the schools were out and it’s much easier to meet friends in a park and have a picnic.

So, how have you make-up addicts been faring in this heat? I had a work event last week and it was so hot so my makeup had sweated off a train and a tube ride later so I popped into Peter Jones in Sloane Square and headed straight for the Charlotte Tilbury counter to get my face freshened up. The staff are always so lovely there and fortunately, it wasn’t too busy so I got to sample a few products. The Wonder Glow £38.50 (which is a light reflecting primer), Light Wonder Foundation (number 6) £32 and a must have for this hot weather, the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder (number 2) £34. The brand new Collagen Lip Bath £25 finished the look and plumped up my lips without feeling too sticky. It lasted for ages too. The total look was incredibly natural and I didn’t feel caked in makeup at all. I stupidly didn’t take a photo so you can’t see, but please take my word for it. I am a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury products as you may have gathered and think the prices are really fair for the quality.

I ended up purchasing the Light Wonder Foundation (Youth Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation) and have been using it daily ever since. It is incredibly light but you can build up the coverage. For this weather in the UK I would suggest wearing it over sunscreen and primer then a touch of finish powder / bronzer / blusher, but if you want a bit more coverage you can mix with a heavier foundation. If you’re going on holiday you really won’t need much else – this is perfect for during the day if you can’t bear to go completely makeup free and also fantastic for fresh, dewy, sun-kissed skin at night.

It was a fantastic evening on the Terrace at Santini Restaurant. In fact, it felt a little like being on holiday sitting outside on a balmy evening under a beautiful flower display eating seafood risotto!

In other news, we recently rebranded Britznbeatz to Neon Music so it’s been incredibly busy there and very exciting with a slick new website and logo. We’ve had some really great feedback which is always reassuring when you change something that seems to work already. Take a look here and let me know what you think!
